Small Bet #1: Internet Book Project
Overview
The Internet Book Project is an experimental collaborative writing initiative that aims to create a unique literary work through micro-contributions from people across the internet. Each participant can contribute up to 20 words for a small fee of $2, working together to reach our goal of 180,000 words.
Of course, if internet decides to put non-sense words, it would be accepted. However, the project will be more interesting if the words are meaningful and contribute to the narrative.
Also, any hateful, racist, sexist, etc. words will be rejected immediately. We want to create a positive and inclusive community although we do accept all kind of contributions, from single character to non-words, if internet thinks it’s a good idea, then let’s go for it.
Purpose
The project explores several interesting concepts:
- Collaborative creativity at scale
- The intersection of literature and technology
- Micro-transactions as a tool for collective art
- Community-driven narrative development
How It Works
- Contributors submit up to 20 words for $2
- Each submission goes through moderation
- Approved submissions become part of the growing narrative
- Contributors can include their username and optional URL
- The project tracks progress toward the 180,000-word goal
Goals
- Create a unique piece of literature through collective effort
- Build a community of contributors
- Explore new models of collaborative creation
- Document the evolution of a crowd-sourced narrative
- Reach 180,000 words to complete the book
Current Status
The project launched on January 1st, 2025, and is actively accepting contributions. We’re tracking progress, unique contributors, and maintaining transparency throughout the process.
